I was having success with OS 9 clients using an alias after connecting using the Server IP Address through the Chooser. But a couple weeks ago problems started. The initial connection works but the client is now disconnected after starting to copy a file to the share of the OS X machine.
The OS 9 Macs can copy files from the OS X machine but can't write to it.
Here's a screenshot of the error.
I have a couple internal drives on this Intel Mac and have played with the "Ignore Ownership on this Volume" but same symptoms. |

I'm finding out this problem comes from updating the OS to 10.4.9
