|

I'm having trouble getting a Cambridge Audio 640H music server to hook up to my iTunes folder. I've seen the other post from someone with one of these devices, and I've tried moving my iTunes folder to the root level of my hard drive etc.
Following a couple of tech support calls to Cambridge Audio, they sent me some screen shots of how they say Share Points should be set up (which, incidentally, they say they're going to post on their website soon.)
I have everything set up exactly as they suggest, but the one thing i notice is that in the Users & “Public” Shares tab, their screenshot shows their user name as a group; my user name is not available as a group, even with the ‘Show System groups’ box checked.
If I select ‘Admin’ and click the Update User button, I get warnings about the possibility that I may lose admin privileges, so I am reluctant to complete that step. is this of any significance ?
The other thing I'm a little unsure about (and i appreciate this is more a question for them than for anyone here) is about how I specify the location of my shared folder on the device itslef. Their user guide simply says to specify it as \\machine name\folder name, but this seems a little unlikely to me, because surely there could be several folders called 'iTunes Music' on a given machine, so how does it identify the correct one ? However, I've tried giving the full file path and it still doesn't work, so any suggestions would be much appreciated,
cheers

Just to update, I seem to be getting a little closer; on the 640H I entered the path in ALL CAPS, and on my Mac I've changed the name of the iTunes Music folder, (which is at the root level of my drive) to simply 'iTunes', and redirected Share Points to that folder.
I now no longer get an error message saying that the location could not be found; however, when the device tries to scan this folder, it quits after 1%.
Any help still much appreciated though...
cheers

OK, I'm about ready to give up and sell the thing, but just in case anyone reads this before i do, I would like to ask some of the questions not quite answered in Bashypack's post ( http://hornware.com/discussion/viewtopic.php?t=464 )
When you say, 'make sure that the account you want to use is enabled for Windows Sharing as well', what exactly do you mean ? Windows sharing is enabled, and i am logged in to my account, so is that not the same thing ? Sorry, if that's a dumb question, but I'm clutching at straws here...
Bashypack, if you're still around, I'd love know how you finally got the thing to share....
And to reiterate my point in my first post; the Cambridge Audio screen shot, showed in the Sharepoint's Users & "Public Shares' tab that the user's user name was in the Group menu; my user name doesn't appear as a group. In the Groups tab, I am part of the admin group, but am not a group as such - the other user accounts on my machine are all listed as groups - is this of any significance ?
cheers

| In the Sharing preference pane, when you click on Windows File Sharing an accounts button appears at the bottom of the window. You need to click on this and ensure that the username you are trying to use to connect from a Windows box is enabled to connect from a Windows box. |
